A brief profile of Avery
The inadvertent expat blogger behind LeafMoonBeamPerch

Hi there, I am Avery
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expatriate based in Springfield, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t in the plan for the long term. As with many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed more complicated than necessary.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines emerged. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built LeafMoonBeamPerch
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is About (And What It Isn’t)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when there is a real change
This site isn’t:
- An official tourism resource
- A paid-review platform
- Just another travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our time in United States goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Springfield or anywhere in United States, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Avery
